Badshahi Mosque Background
Badshahi Mosque is located in the heart of Lahore, Pakistan. It’s one of the largest mosques in the world and the second largest in Pakistan. The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb had got it built in the 17th century. Though Badshahi Mosque is hundreds of years old, but still grand and perfect.
Badshahi Mosque building is a true example of Mughal Architecture. It displays Emperor Aurangzeb’s true taste in beautiful mosques and structures. Mosque was built by thousands of masons and labourer’s.The Mosques courtyard is made of red stones.
One hundred thousand individuals are able to pray in the mosque. We are deeply moved by their creative sense when we enter the mosques interior. The walls and ceilings are made of very precious and expensive stones and carving was beautiful. On these we are able to read the verses of the Holy Quran.
My Own Experience
Badshahi Mosque is one of the most magical places I’ve visited so far. There is a famous saying about Lahore, “Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyia Nai”, meaning the One who has not seen Lahore has not been born. I often thought why people say so until I visited.
No doubt historical places are the reason people love to go there. Badshahi Mosque is one among the most beautiful place to visit and the answer to my question. Beside the beauty of its places lahore is very famous for its food streets and crowded roads with bikes and cars.
My visit to this place was last year in November. Obviously, I had seen photos & video’s but being there was something else. Literally had to stop and catch my breath. I was totally in awe of how big and magnificent it was, I could’ve spent an entire day just lounging around in courtyards.
Can’t express more in words at times you just have to be there to feel the peace and calmness.
There are plenty of food restaurants in the surrounding areas of Mosque. One thing more which I didn’t know before that there is The Gurdwara Dera Sahib (Punjabi, Urdu: گوردوارہ ڈیرا صاحب) is located adjacent to Badshahi Mosque.
No picture ever does justice to the beauty of ancient architecture. You must go to see the beauty yourself.
