There are two parallel stories in The Forty Rules Of Love One that relates the tale of an Ella. Ella had to learn to live her life while shutting her heart to love, that is until a book fell under her hands, and ended up shaking her entire world and change everything she had known.
The second narrative tells the story of a wandering dervish called Shams of Tabriz who was on the lookout for a companion that he can deliver his knowledge to, and it was none other than Rumi.
So, this was my first encounter with the female Turkish writer “Elif Shafak”. It was an amazing experience by far! She managed to switch between past & future which honestly, I found irritating and a bit distracting in the beginning but later on I get used to it.
One specific major interest for this book was reading about Sufism. This novel doesn’t only talk about history of Sufism but simply describe the relation between two great men and the transformation journey they both went through.
This is a must read for everyone. Highly recommended…!!
